Carol and Bob – your hosts

We are Carol & Bob Rodgers. We are Whangarei locals, with Carol being born and raised in the north and Bob having been here for the past 35 years.

Carol has worked as a senior Registered Nurse at the local Whangarei Hospital and Bob worked for a local roading company, Fulton Hogan. We have our fur babies Jeb, Ollie, Black Cat & Solomon living with us. – they love people too!

In December 2018, we purchased this wonderful business with the goal of making The Pembrooke Motor Lodge “The place to stay in Whangarei”. We are commencing an upgrading of the room facilities from June 2019, to enhance the comfort of the Pembrooke Motor Lodge.

We have a strong love and respect for the Whangarei district and Northland as a whole. We are proud of our heritage and culture, which is diverse and colourful.

We have picked kaimoana, walked a lot of the walking paths, kayaked the coastline and fished the local waters for years. We are happy to share our love and knowledge of this area, so you can come to love it too!
